    Default Wedding spots in Nanaimo?

Hey all, somebody asked about good places to get married in Nanaimo, and I know we talked about this recently, but I can't find the thread. Can anyone help?

My wife and I were booked to get married in Morningside park on May 26, 2006! We ended up eloping to where we met in Jasper. I highly reccomend the Morningside beach area, only trouble is there is a sewer gas pipe on the walk down to the beach area. If you give it thirty feet on either side you'll never even know it was there!

    Hi Deztax,

Your guests/family must have been a bit miffed at you for that one!
Sometimes I think we should just go to Hawaii and have a wedding on a beach where we can be almost sure it won't rain!

I did look at having the ceremony on the lawn at Morningside Park as an option, but felt it was a bit steep to set up any chairs
(we have a few people in their 70's attending).

Congrats on your recent wedding and I hope the day was everything you both dreamed it would be.

Default Nanaimo wedding spot - Newcastle Island

    Where's Morningside Park?

I know I suggested Newcastle Island already. Here's a picture of the view from a meadow there (disclaimer: there IS goose crap there!).

And here's a picture of the place from the air (or rather, space).

Of course, you could probably have the ceremony anywhere around there, especially on the larger fields.

Ya, the relatives were a little miffed. We hadn't even sent out invites anyway. My mom was pretty disapointed but she has excepted it. Threw a big party anyway and introduced everyone to my bride. I get to go to N.Ontario in July to meet her family.

I think one of the better spots to get married here would be the grounds of the Pepper Muffin B and B on Jingle Pot rd. It's pretty cool to send out directions with the name Jingle Pot too. Nice big shy on a clear day. Good views all the way around. Being a wedding photographer myself there is alot of good photos to be had in and around there. Nice and flat to for those seniors to get around on.

Of course, we wouldn't have done ours any other way than the way it happened. Love her more everyday!

Ha, couldna asked a better person! Hey deztax, are there any more nice spots around here for people to get married? Are you allowed to post any of the photos you've taken around Nanaimo?

I think I saw some nice wedding photos in the window at the Aphid Gallery downtown. Yup, their website has some. I think Nanaimoite wedding photos should involve sandstone and arbutus!

Riverrat, I haven't photographed many weddings here in Nanaimo only because I have a full time job that isn't too forgiving of me striking out on my own. Plus I need to keep with the benefits. I ran a very successful photo biz in the Rockies but have only shot two here. When the wife is done school is when I can have my turn. In response to places around Nanaimo there are the usuals (pipers, newcastle island, all of the churches). I myself like unique ideas like Morningside park, the waterfalls at Bowen Park, even the roof of the Coast Bastion ( your guests would never forget that), the grounds of the Pepper Muffin Inn, between the cannons at the waterfront ( marriage can be a battle, lol). If anyone out there is looking to have their photos taken I have a full portfolio and will shoot any type of event/ portraits for reasonable prices with a very flexible schedule.

One quick question please. I just noticed the little green box in the top right corner of the users name. When I move the cursor over it - it says I am on a distinguished road?
