If he retires/quits how come he qualifies for severance?
They all seem to. The husband of a friend just moved from a similar position in another province into private industry, after not that much time in his position and got a nice golden handshake. And then a signing bonus from the private company he went to. He would have received "relocation expenses" too if a move had been required, which it wasn't. But if the city were to hire someone from out of town in an executive position, dollars to donuts that person would have their relocation expenses paid, too.
It will be in the contract.
Did he really believe that he retired or quit??????
