Korpan cannot vote. He is not even part of council. He was defeated and John Ruttan is the Mayor for four years.

Bestwick for Mayor in '11

The term for any municipal councillor in BC is 3 years, not four. Next election is Nov. 2011.

As for Bestwick, you make me laugh sometimes Smokey, several posts earlier you are railing about who on council has possibly forced this payout, then you tout Bestwick for Mayor in 2011 when everyone knows that is is Bestwick who has been leading the push for Berry's head with Kipp as his trusty sidekick.

Bestwick is still holding a grudge from when Berry fired him when he worked at the arena and Kipp is equally eager to see Berry go for his role in the Emergency Readiness Coordinator fiasco. Bestwick has been gunning for Berry since the 2005 election and only with the additional changes in 2008 has the anti-Berry sentiment gathered some more momentum.

I knew the next election was in '11 but was wrong when I said that Ruttan would be there for four years. Oooops.

We don't have any proof that it was the grudges that forced Berry out or are you again stating facts that we will see in a few days? Was it Jerry Berry that fired Billy Bestwick from the arena? If so, Jerry Berry should be thanked by Bill for that. I can understand how some would see Kipp as being revengeful, but I do believe that Bestwick has an agenda to promote himself the best he can, which he is doing.

Bill Bestwick gives the image of someone that will probably do a better job then Ruttan has. He showed sincerity in his ambition to reduce the tax increase originally set, which was done and he is now pushing for a reduction next year in the proposed increase. He is an eloquent speaker and thinks as he is speaking selecting the right words to make his presentation more understanding and believable..

John Ruttan pushed for transparency with a platform stating he was Approachable … Accomplished … Accountable… I am awaiting the transparency, and accountability. Sure he appears to be approachable thanking everyone and saying he will consider their presentations or discussions. He is beginning to sound like a broken record at council meetings. Trying to be a friend to everybody doesn't work. Too may people see right through that.

You seem to be stating that it was Bestwick and Kipp along with others that forced Berry out. I know that if he was forced out, which I believe is the most likely scenario, that a minimum of 7 council members would have to vote for his removal. 75% is needed to make financial discussions such as removing a person in management.

I have a feeling that some are definitely in the know . That is awesome.
I spent the last hour reading old letters to the editor from 2005. it was a hoot!

First, I am not a troll. Perhaps you can check the definition of "troll".
Hijacking a topic is changing the subject, not the title.

Second, I started this discussion with the name "Jerry Berry Resigns" instead of the original "Yaaay" because in the case now or in the future anyone wants to find this discussion, they will have better luck searching for "Jerry Berry" instead of remembering "Yaaay". This was done to help the general membership of this forum and was not intended to take away from the original thought as I included the link to the original Yaaay in the first post.
