That sounds like the life. I sure could go for a weekend like that. Mmmmm beer.![]()

Lots of beer. We eat like kings, coffee and bike ride before it gets too hot, then back to the camp, get some food and have a few (too many) beers, eat like kings at night, more beer and then repeat for 3 or 4 days. Lots of fun.
Sounds like a blast. I need a good feast and drunken weekend. I haven't had a beer in ages! I haven't been camping in ages! I'm waaaaay over due for a fun weekend. I want my tent with clear skies and lots of stars. I want my Labatt Blue and a nice fire pit to roast veggie dogs on. Mmmmm.![]()

Return fares for a passenger are $8-10 and for a vehicle are $20-30, depending on the Island. For people who commute or travel on/off regularly, this is quite an expense.

I think it all depends on your setting for how many posts you can fit onto your screen. For my settings, the thread is currently 6 pages. Your setting must be less concentrated (more air to breathe).....

Beer: we've got some great micro-breweries on the Island. Nanaimo has 2 (Fat Cat and LongWood) and Victoria has 3 (Phillips, Van Isle, Lighthouse). Leave the Labatt and Molson behind in Ontario. Out here, we drink real ale (ha ha)
Right now, I'm drinking a 9.5% ale from Van Isle Brewery.......their seasonal Hermannator. mmmmmm good. Still in the fridge is "Father John's Winter Ale", a 7.5% ale from Howe Sound Brewery in Squamish.
ps: I thought that all witches drank Hobgobblin ale. http://www.wychwood.co.uk/
Here's a great advertising slogan for that UK brewery: http://www.wychwood-shop.co.uk/produ...p?recnumber=54
(I was thinking of buying a bunch of those Lagerboy T-shirts, and giving them to the Dover Bay school kids who hang out by the Crossroads Liquor-Depot store, while their older buddy buys them cases of useless mass-produced swill...)
Well, I wouldn't be doing said commuting regularly so it wouldn't be too expensive for me.
Really? You can change the post settings? Not that I have browsed, but for the most part I am technologically impaired anyways, lol.
9.5% beer. Hot damn. I can't even handle my 6%. One beer and I'm drunk. Good for me though, saves me cost on booze.![]()

Hobgobblin ale? I have never heard of such things, if I had, that would be my drink, lol. I shall check out that stuff tomorrow as it's almost midnight and I need some rest.
Bahaha. That shirt rocks. I would so buy one.

The annual golf getaway is fun. I really enjoy it. A nice smaller course, in a smaller town being Ladysmith. An affordable getaway and that includes the golf part too, and I quote some ugly golf rates ( $35,000 for a year membership at Bear Mountain for example and $35,000 is no misprint ). Ladysmith is a place I'd recommend for a getaway. It is underrated I think, and I have heard locals tout it as the island's best kept secret. I hope you find a getaway place, and good camping shouldn't be hard to find either. I get that from transplanted Ontarians too, that they wish they were born here. Many are happy to leave, and tell me I'm not missing much having never been there myself. Not much in the way of nature in Ontario, and being in suburbia is good. I actually don't mind it. Things for sentimental value means more to me. I'm not about the money. Like for example I collect public safety memorabilia ( public safety being police and fire dept. memorabilia such as uniform shoulder patches, lapel pins and t shirts etc ). I'm not in it for money. I enjoy it, have an interest, and many of the shoulder patches I have are from places I have been to ( for example I have a Nanaimo Fire Dept. patch ). As much as I enjoy getting out of town it did get expensive and boring. Maybe I did get bored easier from being used to it. Less is more in this case. I hope for the best for you in the year ahead. A fresh start can only be good. Working for myself is something I should give some thought to. That does sound like a nice bed. Wish I had one that good. Being at the top is overrated. Life as a target is something I could do without. I enjoy your friendship too. It is nice to have a great friend like you. I'm so happy having you.

Oh wow, 35k for a year membership is craziness. That's like, a year's salary I wish I had, haha. Not to mention that kind of money would pay off all my student loans and then some, lol.
I will most definitely check out this Ladysmith place. It sounds intriguing. I have no doubt that there are loads of wonderful places to camp. I can't wait to go exploring.
Sentimental things are really nice to have. It's good you are not money obsessed and collect things because it makes you happy. That is a good reason.I think it's cool, that's so neat, you collect interesting things.

Well that is GOLF - Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbiden... But I still don't like that excuse for a sport. I'd much rather ride bikes or horses.
$35K - I don't know, I make not quite 4x that and it is all relative if you live within or beyond your means. I really like Ladysmith one of the best pizza places ever with Roberts Rd Pizza - I think that's what's it's called anyway but I only know where it is and it great. It has a couple great coffee shops, amazing ocean views and really neat down town. Camping it is not known for but the entire island has so many great places you just have to either ask around or drive up a gravel road...
I used to collect comics when I was a kid - I've got some really valued ones now, then it was music and now, I seem to spend money on tools for projects, not just because.
Sorry to hi-jack.
