Nothing wrong with that, Geoff as long as he knows about it!
Apparently no one told him that he is not able to post on his own thread!

I agree there isn't anything wrong with that. But someone should have made him aware of the inability to post on his own thread. He may not like someone telling him that, or not being able to post on his own thread, but still he should be aware.

    Geoff.
I have to tell you that if everyone was as sweet and reasonable as you this whole world would be a much better place.

Simpilicity is such a marvellous thing.
Bless you for having great insight.

    Thank you
you just made an ugly day beautiful!

It is nice that you feel that way queen. One of the best things I have heard all week, and it hasn't been a good one.. I've learned to be sweet and reasonable and am still learning too, and also on having better insight too. I don't mind doing my part on making an ugly day beautiful.

Welcome back. This is much better then isnt it? I really felt there was a logical and fair explanation and it is all forthcoming.
    Good day for busking?
(pic) Keep warm, and winter well.

I didn't think that you were banned, and I wasn't asking for you to be banned. I'll leave the issue with you and the administrator among yourselves and others that may be involved. Good to have you back, and hopefully you are back for good.

I admit I was quick to condemn when I said this thread should go. I only saw that it had been around a while with tons of hits, but didn't take into account its popularity. I thought this over and didn't mean to upset people who often visit this thread. I apologize if my rush to judgment was bothersome to people on here.

    Default Oh that busking thread

I vote to remove the bickering and personal information from the buskng thread and locking it so no one can post to it.

I agree that much of the information is good, but I think that some of it got way out of hand. If you want to make a positive change in the perception of busking in Nanaimo then I think it would be a good idea to remove the "bad bits".

Piper said that he had another site (blog?) to carry on the busking discussion so there is no real need for this thread to carry on.

If you want to start fresh, just start another thread.

btw, I read the thread that got deleted right to the end before it got deleted and I have to say that there is a lot of hyperbole about what was said by Smokey and Complicated.

There were a lot of slings shot in that thread and not just by Smokey and Complicated. I would say that quite a few people said things that were better left unsaid. Some people are making out like it was a one sided attack, but I didn't see it anywhere close to that.

Also, I want to thank River Rat for his patience through all of this. I am a moderator on a list and if anyone had done half the things that people have done here, the list would have been short about 10 people. The very fact that mostly everyone is still here speaks to him trying to be fair.

    Just my 2¢

A number of comments and quotes have been deleted. I think this is a good thing.

Information was given and I appreciated all of it. The thread served its purpose, ran its course and i personally learned more about how chat forums work than I ever knew.
Perhaps the biggest lesson is to read the rules of the forum at least once a week and keep them in my mind. Always expect the unexpected and remember to be respectful.

I am amazed at how controversial the subject became. If one looks at other busking sites all over the world one gains insight.
Lessons learned are good. Perhaps it is best to stay off threads that push our buttons?

Piper I think a new thread could be started.

Things have changed greatly in a year.

I would welcome a thread that incorporated things like

    Updates from bylaws

How other cities deal with busking

Notes on Street Entertainment Festivals around the world.

    Stories about famous buskers.

You could call it THE BEAT OF ANY STREET . it could incorporate things like Street Art, murals, and other ways that people make money or do art in public places.Perhaps even stories from vendors or what ordinary people would like to have on their street corners.

Perhaps some stories of special characters that live or work on the street.
This would bring the community to the street and perhaps the street to the community.

busking is not the only thing that happens on our streets.

The "busking thread' was our story. We told it as we saw it.

Sometimes people have to write out their experiences before they move on to the next step.

    A catharsis if you will.
