Default The blues underground is moving:

The Blues Undergroundon hold until January 4, 2010

    Dear Blues Fans .....

The Blues Underground has some exciting news!!

The Blues Underground is moving over the Christmas holidays to a new location. Over the last few months we have had excessive flooding, water damage and other property issues that we can no longer accommodate.

On January 4, 2010 we will open the doors to the community at 165 Fraser Street (Beside Mrs. Riches) still in downtown Nanaimo. The building is currently called Back Stage Pass Events. There we will continue with all of our regular programming: jams, after school, the academy, performances, events, lessons and now much more.

The Blues Jam will be ON HOLD until Thursday, January 7, 2010 when we will continue the Thursday Blues Jam as normal at the new location hosted by the Nanaimo Blues All-Stars and guests. The new space has wonderful incentives. We have heat, air, parking, wheelchair accessibility, zoning for performances of up to 120 people, plus many other wonderful things. We think this new space has a lot of potential and think that you will enjoy it very much.

The Blues Underground will be truly missed. It has been good to us and we are very grateful for all the players, listeners, supporters that have enjoyed it along the way. It’s been a blast. Thank you for all of your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at the new space in the New Year.

Its all true. We were booked to perform on Thursday night at 8:00 PM.
Being pros we showed up early and heard the news. When I got home there was a message that I recieved at 7:30 pm letting us know.

it was kind of a bummer as our keyboard player came from the mainland, bass player from Nanoose, drummer from Lantzville and new debuting back up singer from Parksville.
We had spent that afternoon rehearsing with the six of us as well as many weeks before.
i hope the new group is more organized.

Wow! That must have been a bummer! Not much notice unless there was an emergency that night. I gather it was already closed when you got there.

Fortunately a bunch of the All Stars were there. We spent some time scrambling to call all the people from out of town who were on their way!

I got to sing Smmertime with the marvellous horn players. They really are a dedicated group of individuals and have contributed a lot to downtown. Special kudos to Eric Mclean for his huge contribution. Also to Tina's Diner for all their work. Tom has moved on and will be missed.

Then we went to the Oxy and did some band bonding. lol!
No harm done. I think the new venue will be better.
