Chinese Restaurants

I love Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai Restauraunts. Does anyone have a favorite in Nanaimo? I would have to say mine is Spices Garden in Terminal Park Mall. Oh and who can forget Acme, Sake House, and Blue Ginger. Anyone try that place downtown beside Wesley Street? Pretty sure it is Thai food...

Shanghai city is definately my favorite chinese food restaurant.
it's in the back of brooke's landing.

hong kong house is also pretty good, but I guess i've grown accustomed to Shanghai.

Just make sure to stear clear of the Mandarin House.

i've tried that thai place that is down by wesley street. hmmm, not the one on fitzwilliam though, the one that is closer to delcado's. the food was alright, but i was not terribly impressed with it. I should probably try the place on fitzwilliam soon though as i live right by there and really like thai food.

The place on Fraklyn is called Amazing Thai and I've eaten there twice and liked it - they're really friendly, too. Also, my friend Brian used to work there and sometimes he was allowed to bring leftovers home - free food tastes so good!

I like Shanghai City for its big smorg, but I hear Hong Kong House takes the cake.

And yes, I'm also curious about the place on Fitzwilliam, beside McLean's, or is it Maclean's? (Also a great spot - but Scottish, not Asian. Wonderful import store).

Theres this place called Saigon Kitchen they are located across from Rutherford mall in that little stripmall complex. They have absolutley the best Vietnamese food in town excellent stuff check it out.

Arg this thread is making me so hungry :-). Amazing Thai has really good thai hot n' sour soup (Tom Yum). Most places seem to cheap out on the seafood but The golden Inn smorg was really good when I went. There was ginger crab, temprura (or garlic) prawns, muscles etc. plus there's chicken, pork and beef prepared in a variety of ways for the rest of you. Don't fill up on rice and noodles!

I agree with Phil, this is making me hungry and I would kill for chinese or sushi right now. Golden Inn is awesome, and they have been in Nanaimo for at least 25 years. It's good to support local small businesses.

New China on Ross road is a nice Mom and Pop place. More of the "americanized" Chinese food. It is a small place, best for takeout. In fact, if you pay cash, you get a 10% discount at the register.

Worth stopping by to pickup a menu from them.

I am with Mr Flibble if I am going to order Chinese food I get take out or Delivery from New China! I have always been very pleased with the food! Only the owners cook so it is always good!
