Thread: Kasira Thai on Metral

    Default Kasira Thai on Metral

Tried Kasira last night....pretty busy which I took as a good sign for a Monday night. The server said it is always very busy on Fri and Sat. so Monday was a good night to come in.....We ordered two dishes off the specialty section on the menu...My wife had a seafood sizzle plate with lots of fresh fish, scallops shrimp and pineapple chunks (not canned) in a great mildly spicy sauce. I had a roast duck in a great sauce with fresh cilantro and ginger. The duck was I'd say a 1/2 duck...boneless except for the drumstick and nice and crispy on the outside. Reasonably priced wine, decent minimalist decor, good service....too bad it's in a strip mall with nothing to look out at except the parking lot. The food was great and we'll be back there soon!

I love the food there, but the service is terrible.

Kasira's food is great, service is so-so, but their prices are ridiculously high when compared to other great Thai restaurants in BC. No excuse, especially with the owner's Escalade out front

Kasira great food, reasonably priced - I recommend it for Thai food in Nanaimo

My wife and I have given this restaurant several opportunities to show they belong in the SERVICE industry. They have failed on three occasions now, and we will now support The Amazing Thai when we want Thai cuisine. The reception area in Kasira is a joke in that there is room for four people at most and you are forced to hover over a table right at the door. No matter how busy they are, it take a ridiculous amount of time to get your food. Despite its diminutive size, more servers are needed.

I don't believe that Amazing Thai is open any longer. You might want to try Sukkho Thai downtown!

Thank you. I just discovered that Amazing Thai is indeed closed. The Nest Bistro has replaced it. I was truly surprised. I appreciate the information on the other Thai restaurant and will give it a try.
