Thread: Jinglepot Heritage Church

    Default Jinglepot Heritage Church

A couple of years ago I got a close look at an old church that previously I'd only been able to see through the trees off Jinglepot Rd. near Holland Road. The tiny white spired church is located on private property and unfortunately the people I spoke with didn't know the history of the church. Perhaps someone here will. Any history will be appreciated. Thanks!Click image for larger version

That is so weird. I have never seen that church and I grew up in that area. Know what the address for the property is or which side of jingle pot or Holland road its on? I can't see it via Google earth.

It certainly is old.. I like the shape of the chimney and the spire.

Hi Ace...I just used google maps street scene and believe I caught a glimpse of the steeple at 2202 Lyn-la-Ran Road. It is located on the W side of Lyn-la-ran. Driving N on Jinglepot from Holland you can glimpse it through the trees on the R (East) side before you get to Mill Road. I find it interesting that the steeple is twisted.

That's really a fantastic old church. I'll have to get out there and see it for myself. Thanks for posting this

not sure of the addy nanaimoboy. Sometimes google street scene is off on the numbers but it would be approximate. There is a long driveway so church is difficult to see from the road. I was at a garage sale at a shop on the property a couple of yrs ago and that was how I was able to see it so closely. Would LOVE to know more about it.

The correct address is 2272 Lynn-La-Ran Rd. You can see it via Google earth or Google maps with satellite selected.

Asked my dad about it today and he said he saw it a few years ago too. Knew someone who lives on the property and was doing work for them or something. Says the property is or was owned by the Gezetti or Gazetti family (I don't know how its spelled). At one point they owned a huge area of land which included the Scout Hut which is now that church. Originally it was a sales building that one of the Gezetti's built as a show room for fireplaces as he was a bricker and apparently very popular.

My dad doesn't know why the church is there. Could have been moved there, or it was just there from years ago or maybe built for fun although it seems very old and original. Rumors are it's haunted....

Thanks so much Ace...that is VERY interesting. I used to rent an old house on Buck Rd and the landlord said the fireplace in that house was built by Mr Gezetti.

Drove by today and you can see it from the road fairly well but I noticed if you drive along a little further there is the house then to the right of the house and behind it there appears to be a square shaped building with a similar spire but it isn't twisted.
