    Default Looking for a puppy!

I want a puppy. I want a small dog that loves to be cuddled and played with. I want a dog that likes small children (none yet, but probably within the life of the dog!) I want a little dog that doesn’t like to bark too much. I am willing to pay whatever the cost. Doesn't matter if a mix or pure breed.

Does anyone have any? Know anyone? Might have some soon? Any recommendations on dog breeds? So far the two dogs that seem best for me are the boston terrier and the pug, I am sure there are lots more but you can only do some much research before you get tired.

    Thanks!

not too sure about small dogs, on the 8th im picking up my new puppy. He's 1/2 border collie and 1/2 belgian shepherd.....soooooo cute ill likely post a pic of him here when i get him...he's black with a few white spots and will likely look like this when he's grown http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/belgiangroenendael.htm maybe a bit smaller due to the border collie blood.

Trying to think up a good name for him tho....

I can't believe how hard it is to find the 'perfect' dog. I have been searching for weeks!

    Is there such a thing?

A pug is a good choice for kids - although it's really how they are raised. My chihuahua had 6 puppies and they were raised with us 3 kids and were very good around children - some chihuahua's are horrendous around kids. So it all depends. Poodles are good for allergies as they are the only dog breed that don't shed!

Glad to see you are taking your time.

We recently got a dog about six months ago. Looked in all the Shelters both here and on the mainland for several weeks before finding the one. Often it is harder to asess their behavior as puppies, then the change of having a child may shift the dogs world too.

If you are willing to settle for a yonger adult or older puppy... if you watch the paper and check the bulletin boards... in time you may find one that will cater to your situation. (eg. Dog is great and kid friendly, but for some unforseen reason they have to give him up) It happens from time to time.

You could try talking to your local vetrinarian. They are usually more than happy to recommend a reputable breeder.

Hope you find your perfect puppy

I have emailed 10 Boston breeders all around the island and lower mainland. So far I have heard back from only 2 and both had no puppies. I am starting to think about the French Bulldog but they are VERY pricey! I have been to the SPCA and talked with them and the pet store and asked about breeders. I have not called the vet yet, but I have been checking a few different websites, papers, buy and sell. I am pretty suck on a puppy, as young as I can go.
