Default New development in Bowen Park?

So I've been taking advantage of Bowen park of the past few days... since I live right by it and now realize I've been wasting this wondrous beauty right next to me.

Anyways, took my bike for a little ride to discover all these new trails, bridges, and some sort of construction area in the center of the park. I remember growing up there was a road through the park and a few trails, and a petting zoo. The constructuion zone is quite close to the old petting zoo barn.

I was just wondering if anyone new how long this has been going on for, and what they are building? It looks like it might be a little court yard?

And for anyone, who like me, has not been through here for a while I would highly recommend it. It is simply beautiful right now!!!!

Also, I noticed some totem poles that had been pulled down. Anyone know if they are going to put up new ones? It just seemed kind of odd...

I believe the poles were laid down to rest, as part of an Indian type burial ceremony. It's a great chance to see native art and native workmanship up close and front. Foxglove might like to see these. Bring a camera.

Is the duck-pond area still a gay-men meeting place? Or has that changed in the past few years?

This is great. When they are having a nice play, we will be able to hear the ducks quacking away.

I was there a few times in the past few months. Thankfully, no men hit on me. And no woman did either for that matter.

    HAHA! Hilarious!

My friend just told me this use to be the "gay men hook up zone" how random!

Anyways, I think this is development is amazing (since I am quite fascinated with urban planning) What a great "mixed primary use" haha, amazing!

yo! u-all might want to check out the history of bowen park before u get all googly eyed over all the wonderfull development going on there. It was donated under conditions to ascertain its longevity and availablity to the all the public.(available in the downtown library) Are these being infringed? Think about it, development in a public park. Hello!...... Just as an aside, look how lovely the development is on our waterfront park sway-a-lana right now with more development to come. Anyone heard the remember the words."pave paradise and put up a parking lot". have fun with it.
