2002 Walla Walla Onion Harvest Photo :)

HOWDY FOLKS!!

Seeing as River Rat started this gardening section (THANKS RR!!) off with a bragging photo of his Radishes
I thought I would post a picture of me holding some of the Walla Walla Onions I grew back in 2002.



I ended up with 68lbs and had 9 onions that where big enough to cover a large Kaiser bun when sliced.(biggins)

I also ended up entering those onions in the VIEX and won 1st place (won 1st place in 2003 too)

Damn fine harvest there, Harewoodian. You gonna share any of your #1-at-the-fair secrets? Is it rabbit poop? Starfish? Compost tea?

Congratulations! I come from a much dryer, hotter area with lots of places with soil that's a touch sandier, and that is one hell of an achievement. I have never seen onions that good grown on the Island. IMHO, you deserved sort of "first prize on steroids". Or a "lifetime achievement award". Those onions are fantastic.
