Nanaimo Museum's temporary feature exhibit on Chinatown is now open. Check it out.
Also, Friday's Nanaimo Daily News is supposed to feature a story on the Chinatown fire. Let's see if they remember it.
Today, Sept 30th 2010 is the 50th anniversary of the fire.

I hope the Nanaimo Daily News recognizes this historic event. It is a way of passing on part of Nanaimo's history to the younger generation and those who are newcomers to Nanaimo.

Both my dad, & grandather, who was fire chief at the time, fought the fire. I was 6 months old!!!

The fire was on my 15th birthday. I hear there is going to be a cover story in the paper today.
