Good real estate agents in Nanaimo? Where are they?!

I'm starting to lose hope about finding a good real estate agent in Nanaimo. When we bought our house, our agent "forgot" to tell us about a transfer tax, which we had no idea about as we were moving from AB. $6,000 extra at closing.

Now we're ready to sell, and not going to use the same realtor as when we purchased our home. Listed with an agent who we have to babysit to ensure he's doing the minimum...like changing the price in his print advertising 3 weeks after our reduction. Now we see he hasn't updated the info on our Vancouver real estate channel info. After 2 listing periods with this one...we're done with him!

2 months ago had a free market evaluation with a well known group, who fully knew we were ready to switch to a different realtor. That group spent all that time on the evaluation, doing a presentation with full research, going through our home, and never called us back. It just doesn't seem right we should be the ones to call them to list the house.

Where can we find a realtor that is willing to do more than just the minimum than to put our home on mls and wait for a commission on a sale without any effort? If you know of one, I'd love to hear from you!

I have always used Brian Betts at REMAX but he has now retired and has passed all his clients to Rob Grey. Alternately, there is a member on here Ryan Coffey on here is a realtor that seems to be very knowledgeable.

You should also call the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board to register a complaint against the realtors you had trouble with.

Should you take me up on any of the options I mentioned of, Ryan Coffey and Todd Sanderson are both with Coast Realty. Ryan is at the north end office around Long Lake, and Todd Sanderson is at Coast's downtown office.
