Default New in town and looking for any construction/labour jobs.

    Hi all.

My girlfriend and I moved to Nanaimo about 6 weeks ago and Im having trouble finding work. She is a nurse so had work already organised before we got here but Im winging it, without a lot of success.

Ive been working in property renovations for the last 6 years in Scotland and was a tile setter for 5 years before that in New Zealand. So Im experienced in demolition, reconstruction of walls, floors and ceilings, kitchen and bathroom fitting, tiling, finishing joinery, hardwood flooring and painting.

Ive been self employed so have a good work ethic. Im very hard working and dont complain, Im happy to work outside in the rain all day, any opportunity would be greatly appreciated right now. I have a car and a drivers licence and can travel.

So, any leads would be appreciated or if youd like a resume you could email me at:

    robertalanfrew@gmail.com

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob.

The market is pretty soft these days. As a tile setter I would look at United Carpet or perhaps get in touch with the boys at City Tile as they may know who is busy.

I've been out of town, working up north lately. Not sure if there is anything that has enough to chew on these days. I couldn't find much back in January so I am now on a 3 and 1 rotation which means lots of travel and living out of town for long periods. This is one reason why I haven't been on line lately.

    Cheers,

I am always curious to know why people who have moved to Nanaimo, chose Nanaimo?? Especially, without having a job lined up first. I am not criticizing, I really want to know what attracts people to Nanaimo.

    Thanks
