Yeah I'm not sure I believe it either. I'd like to get into the building today and see room 453, take some photos and see if anything shows up while I'm there. I'm not a big fan of the break-and-enter deal though.

The number 9 on the door of room 459 (453), what a great souvenir! Don't mind if I do! (I wish)
If that place is haunted, it's probably haunted by the ill-wishes of dissatisfied guests. Can't remember the year, but sometime between about 1976 - 1980 I was an unwilling two-night guest there, attending a conference. Colder than (fill in description of your choice), no heat available, the bathroom window wouldn't close and I honestly expected to find ice in the toilet bowl in the morning. If I hadn't been forced to attend the conference, I would have been out of there during the middle of the first night. I met a lot of unhappy fellow attendees, but I didn't meet any ghosts.![]()
I was working for a rental company in 1977 and had the pleasure of delivering and picking up from the movie set a number of times. My last trip into the set I picked up a couple of large industrial shop vacs. I was complaining to a guy from the crew who was helping me that they could have emptied the damn things, so they wouldn't be so heavy. He said they are full of the ants used in the movie. When I looked, the vacuum was full of small black beads, used to simulate ants. Had some fun with the some other employees when I got back. Never did see the movie, but I'm told I didn't miss much
That sounds like it would have been fun to be on and off the movie set. I'm interested in seeing the movie so I can see what the building and property looked like back then. I've actually never been inside either. I'd imagine there's not much to see now. The building looks like its pretty much gutted. I drove by last October and was a bit shocked to see it sitting there abandoned, nobody around. The lady down the street that I did some work for was from Europe and she mentioned that they restore the old buildings back home, not tear them down so quickly to build new like we do here.
I have a few more photos to post, so I'll put them up now. This is the Qualicum Heritage Inn's right side if you were to stand in front, along with what is left of the sidewalk. Photos were taken November 1, 2010.

This light was posted a couple of days ago but here is the doorway in which it hangs (left side of the building).
And one more from around back. Not too interesting but I'm thinking that this yellow color was the color of the Inn back in 1977 when the movie was filmed there.
This is the spot that I climbed up to get the photos of the interior. Those photos were rooms located on the second floor if you were standing back here, directly above the spot that I was standing when this photo was taken. I believe it was once the dining area. The last photo posted of the inside - the one with the hot water tank - was taken from down here as I peered through a hole into the basement.
I had been to the Qualicum College Inn a number of times when I lived close by. To bad it has come to this. Thanks for the pictures GR74. I've been enjoying your posts. Takes me back.
Coming to you "LIVE AND IN COLOUR",from the BIG MOO!!;)
Thanks, Bunky. I will try to get more photos the next time I'm in Qualicum Beach.
