Well, the guy died that wasent the problem.. Most think it is..

There was a bunch of arsonists who went up to the lakes and torched a few firetrucks and misc equipment aparently.. And it was private land they let people go up to the lakes.. Some people just messed it up for the whole other bunch. I was gonna go fishing last week until i found out why it was closed..

Might come back in the summer when THEY have a guard at the main gate. There is many other ways in there. One from port alberni logging roads some others, I wont go in there though cause now its one reason to get in alot of trouble. Dont Pm me asking for the way though cause it aint gonna happen. I am respecting Timber West's opinion on shutting down the lakes.

    Default email from T-west

    Good afternoon Mr. Legault –
Your email has been passed along to me.
Our gates on our Nanaimo Lakes properties are locked at the present time. Due to damage to our campsites, machinery and property we have locked our gates. This doesn’t mean it is a permanent situation but since thousands of dollars of damage has occurred on our land and we have taken these steps.
This property is owned by TimberWest we reserve the right to lock our gates should we feel it is necessary not only for our reasons but also for the safety of the public.

I think it would be cool if ignorant people were punished severely in our community.

Yea, Well ugh... ON Doumont Trail System, There is signs saying.. Report Arsonists.. Honestly I think TW did a good thing in shutting down the lakes. It works like a hot damn. Its like a property we own in nanaimo its a wooded area.. Stupid Sex workers bring there dates there and people dump there garbage there. Now we gated the place up there is nothing goin on in there.

I give props to TW for what they did. Its a shame that people have to torch stuff though.. I guess people are just jelious etc..

It really is a shame that stupid people have to wreck it for everyone.I have been going up there my whole life with my dad now that he has passed on i go there to remember the times i had with him camping and fishing, and swimming.uused to bring big part orders daily from Ford when i worked there aswell got to know the gate keepers pretty well over the years to,and i have to say im glad there is a gate there or it would not be as nice as it is up there. Its allmost stayed the same up there besides the clearcuts since i was a young boy,its nice to go to the 4th lake and its still the same up there as when i was young with my dad.Nothing pisses me off more than to see that somone dumped a truck load of drywall and shingles on the side of the road because they were to cheap to take it to the dump.Hopfully we will be able to have acess for the summer season for at least one or two camping/fishing trips.I guess i was lucky to have gottin in there two weeks ago to go to the 4th lake fishing. The army let me in early in the am told me they had to lock the gate behind me though,on my way home i only had to wait half hour for a resident to let me out,,lol that was befor i knew about TW locking the gate i just figured the gate would be open at 8am as usual on weekends.

    Hi Y'all,
Unfortunate events to read about the vandalism at Nanaimo Lakes in the early spring/winter. Does anyone know if TimberWest is allowing campers for the summer? Do they take reservations???

Hope to hear from someone. Take care,
