BEST TENANTS EVER looking for a home...

My name is Summer, and my boyfriend Steve and I are searching for a place to call home. We are looking for a small house or cottage in the country, somewhere between Nanaimo and Duncan.

We are: 30 and 27, responsible, reliable, respectful, and all of that important stuff. I am employed full time as a bookkeeper, and Steve works as a certified kayak guide, with off-season work building a fibreglass catamaran. We are non-smokers, not partiers, and we take pride in keeping a nice home. Steve is a small-town guy that is great with tools- he is able to fix most minor issues with the home and keep everything ship-shape. He plays accordion, I like to bake- we just need a cozy home to fill with music and good food.

We both try to be conscious of our environment, recycling and composting whenever possible, and we would love to have a space to grow a small veggie garden. Steve runs his car on recycled vegetable oil, which is sourced through local restaurants.

We are pet owners- our dogs are small, (about 15 and 25 pounds,) and are 10 and 12 years old. They have been tenants their whole lives. They bark when someone approaches the home, but otherwise are quiet. My cats are also old and lazy. I am conscientious about keeping my home and yard clean.

If I were you, I'd start by contacting the various property management agencies in the area and see what they have available. Probably better to work with the pros for more consistent service. In time, if you want to stay you could then look in to mortgage options so that your monthly fees are going into something.
