What makes it even harder to stomach for the Americans, is their mortgage crisis and subsequent economic recession has amplified the financial plight of the US. What? 0% loan? I'll take it. The US has not brought up a fiscally responsible citizenship, with almost ZERO fiscal education. This, coupled with almost no regulatory systems to protect its citizens from free market...

At least in Canada we have heavy govt regulatory systems in place to prevent our big 5 banks from handing out dumb loans to dumb people.

Given that, I do strongly believe that military funding should be of high priority so that soldiers get what they need to get work done and in due time. Not a procurement process that was written by a staffer.
As I said before, I believe military strikes from a distance (strategic strikes) would had accomplished the same result in Afghanistan. Iraq and Libya, we had no business getting involved in. Their politics is really none of our business, and never has been, unless they do something to us as an act of war.

Almost every country in the middle east has, or had, a leader/ruler who has or does rule with an "iron fist". It's been that way since to days of Christ. That's all the know in those regions. I doubt forced change by the west will ever accomplish anything. We are not them. They think differently than we do. We can't change them. They can't change us. We all just need to learn to live with each other, apologize for our wrongs, make amends, and go on with our own lives and stop forcing change on each other. It's didn't work in Vietnam, never worked in Cuba, or central America, middle east, Africa or anywhere else.

I think it about time governments clued in. But you know what? They won't.

When Obama got elected, I thought to myself, "here is a man of peace and change". Boy.........what a putz I was to believe that. Now we have Libya, an African conflict that could now drag on for years to come, bringing the entire northern region of Africa with it.

Again, Libya was none of our business. Perhaps this is about oil, or something.............and i'd hate to think the world be that sinister.

Perhaps it's about oil? I guarantee that this is all it is about. The states wants something that they have, and are willing to send their soldiers to get it, period. Unfortunately, Afganistan conducts war like every other country does now, in the streets. Peck away at them. There is no winning. Vietnam come to mind? Walk away now, save some lives. Rant over, have a great day everyone!!

Well I have always thought that the USA wanted to be the pack leader of the world and having to fight for their status was a fight no matter what!! Just to keep everyone in line. LOL

the company internal messaging system indicates that oil production has resumed in Libya as of this week.
Most the expats are back in. It was a good couple of months holiday for them for sure. Their security measures are probably even more stricter than the ones we have here.

Oh well, the higher the risk, the higher the payoff.
