A newbie

hello all, I am happy to have found this forum. My husband and I arre hoping to move to Nanaimo and these forums seem to have a wealth of information. Are there any developments that also have a community garden? We would like to walk as much as we can to shops, library etc, any suggestions. Thank you

Our Comunity Garden Association is close to downtown. many of us in the neighborhood have our own plots as well. Gleaning is encouraged and community foodshare has some great programs. VIU is close, the downtown core is walkable ,the waterfront is beautiful and close. Everything you might need is walkable from The Old City Quarter,Harewood and Nob Hill.

I agree with what queen of the waterfront said, and I know there are community gardens in a lot of other parts of town too - but I don't know where to find info about those.

thank you for that. Community gardens seem to abound in Nanaimo, lucky for us. Now all we have to do is sell the house. I am watching the threads on this forum and gathering information on other sites, from what I have read Nanaimo seems like a great place to live, so look forward to discovering your beautiful city.

Hi everyone, Before my husband and I moved here, I relied on this forum to help me learn about Nanaimo! Now I'd like to help other newcomers connect. As a hobby, I run a non-profit social group that helps relocated professionals (ages 20s-50s mostly, both couples and singles) meet others who want to build a circle of friends/sense of community here.
