    Default french immersion schools

    Hi,
We are moving to Nanaimo soon and are hesitating between two french immersion Schools, Pauline Haarer and Hammond Bay elementary, does anybody have any feedback?
What is the best area to live around these schools?

    Thanks,

I know nothing about Hammond Bay Elem., but one of my kids has been at Pauline Haarer for more 5+ years and it's been a good school for him.

What is the best area to live around these schools?
The BEST areas between those schools, in my opinion, are:
    • the Vancouver Ave neighbourhood (aka Newcastle -- for if you want to live near downtown Nanaimo and Pauline Haarer)
    • I don't know much about the differences between the various neighbourhoods in the north end (for Hammond Bay school) -- they all seem pretty mild. Lots of beautiful seaside locations, and/or with amazing views across the widest part of the Salish Sea.

I have some friends whose children went to Pauline Haarer right up until grade 7 - both the parents and children were quite happy with it.

Hi - I had two children who attended 'Appalling Horror" and we were very displeased for a variety of reasons. No harm done tho'. My oldest son in now studying law in another province and my youngest is home-schooled and doing exceptionally well. The two children who gave my youngest son an incredibly hard time at AH are in a different situation tho'. One of them was suspended indefinitely from NDSS for dealing drugs and the other 'child' was suspended indefinitely from NDSS for urinating on another childs' coat and destroying a locker. Since M. Fallon is now longer the Principal there (he has taken on a Professorship at UBC, to further his career) things may be quite different. Just my $.02
