On Sunday May 20, there will be a partial solar eclipse viewable from Nanaimo as the moon moves between us and the sun.
Volunteers from the Nanaimo Astronomy Society will be giving the public a chance to view the partial eclipse safely from Maffeo Sutton Park.
We will have some solar telescopes set up along with a large number of eclipse glasses that people can use at the event to view the eclipse.
The eclipse should be visible just before 2 PM and will remain visible until after 7 PM.
WARNING: It is VERY IMPORTANT that you do not look at the eclipse with binoculars or standard telescopes.
If you do, you run the risk of severe damage to your eyes.
