Default Rare Jupiter-Venus Conjunction over Westwood Lake

Over in my intro on the business forum, it was suggested I post some shots of Nanaimo I've taken, so here's a recent one I took which made the front page of the Daily News. I'm a director of the Nanaimo Astronomy Society and we are looking at having Westwood Lake a designated International Dark site, as it's great location for viewing the night sky.

Anyway here you go, Jupiter is the Lower planet.

Oh and btw in just under a month you will be able to see an event you will never see again. Venus will be passing in front of the Sun on the 5th June. It will take about 6 hrs and start at 3.15pm.

The Nanaimo Astronomy society has loads of free Sun-safe glasses that you can use to view through. Contact the club direct if you'd like to use some safe-glasses to view this once in a lifetime event.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Thank you for this information, my daughter and I will definitely be there!
I used the contact us on the Nanaimo Astronomy Site to request those glasses you mentioned, hopefully they will get back to me in time to get them before this event.
Your pictures are incredible, thank you for sharing! (I also visited your website!)
