Just curious The Hiker of the Cosmos,what does DOD stand for ?,last time I looked its DND Department of National Defence. So glad theres a guard gate at CFMTR Nanoose so we don,t have you thinking you own that place also!

As for all the Military butt kissers and sycophants, it is clear that you all have never seen a couch & dough nut that you didn't love and have mastered the art of your feet never touching the floor as you have never been up there, have no idea of the topography or the reality of the ground being discussed or the actual safety facts as they exist on the ground,i suggest you take a look up there so you will know what you are talking about instead of acting like a bunch of knee jerk pro military red necks.This is not a police state run by the military but a country for the people, of the people, by the people. Shutting down Mt.Benson is as acceptable as it would be for the Military on dead mans island at Stanley Park declaring Stanley Park off limits to the public because they want it for themselves. I know the ground on Mt.Benson, there is no danger, further more as this is supposedly an organized and disciplined military, surely they can set a schedule for their firing range and publish it daily rendering the whole matter moot. If anyone knows what a firing range looks like they would know that the design literally precludes a possible incident not to mention the other factors i referenced that make it moot in of itself. ..............This is what Hiker of the Cosmos thinks of us, that support DNDs right to close off property that they own.This is one of the many rants that he posted on Nanaimo Daily News......I rest my case......

By the way the people living along the side of Morrell nearest Mt.Benson in the trailer park, they as well are in what the Military in effect is saying is the danger Zone as they are right there nearby the K2N trail.

So i take it the Military will force them out at gun point and put barbed wire fences around them as well, after all the alternative is putting them in a life threatening position........Oh ! My !

Again the DOD legally and constitutionally can not and does not actually own a square meter of property anywhere, it is all crown public land, i own it, you own it, all Gods Canadian Citizens own it. !!

Secondly, crown land in Canada is, in fact, owned by the Queen. It is managed either federally or provincially by the governing body who is given absolute right and control over the crown land in their jurisdiction. Crown land does not imply that every Canadian has open and unrestricted access to it.

The Queen is just a figurehead and a technicality with no real ownership or authority, a waste of money really, the crown is the Govt. of Canada which are the People of Canada and the people of Canada own Canada and all the land of Canada, the Queen is moot and nothing but a meaningless technicality.

Remember any Govt. of Canada exists only at the pleasure of the people who have authority over it and it is the people not some abstract Govt. entity that has ownership of any land in this country.

The Military is not an actual entity with any authority, but merely an extension of the people who have authority over it.

The Department of National Defense has the right to use the property as a government agency as per their mandate. The property is Crown Land which is held by the federal government on behalf of the monarchy. They may be antiquated laws but they are upheld today. The DND elected to make it a violation and signage says so. That is all they need. KEEP OUT.

How any one can think that the Queen has any actual authority in any respect on the disposition of land in this country is laughable or it's use for that matter, that is fact, the Queen other then being a useless waste of time has zero say, the People of this country do, period.
