Default Bc traffic fines add up to millions

I was reading about the millions of dollars that the BC residence have contributed to regarding fines due to lack of good driving???

I for one am glad I have not contributed to the pool of $$$$$$$$. What a pyrmid of money to rake in.

The other day I had a undercover police car tailgate me. LOL,, Like I was going to be intiminated and go faster,, not!!

The figure of $51,000.000 million amazes me and I wonder what the time frame was to acccumlate that amount of money.

I have fun with them. I drive a car that is a cop magnet, and when there are new cops in town using their radar and plate recognition the usually check at least twice. I use a radar detector and get the notification. They initially think i'm some punk in his early 20's or something. I refuse to add to their fine pot, partially because the money will only be wasted by the politicians. Their surprise when they check? I'm 70. Screw em!

The money from fines fixes pot holes on streets and wear and tear along the side of the roads as well. Money well spent.

When you look at it that way, it's not a bad system. And if people don't want tickets, don't speed.

And here I understood these fines were $$ given back to the community to help pay for the police force - RCMP. One of the reasons they are on such a flitz to accumalate the dollars in fines. They want to increase their number of employess, so someone has to pay the price.

**Kenning said he doesn't know how the city will use the money yet since officials are still trying to determine the cost implications to the city of the recently signed contract with the RCMP.**

These ticket fines are not all speeding tickets. They are reminders about: 1: not coming to a complete stop before going forward.
2: failure to use your turn signal when making a turn. 3: driving too slow. Etc.

Yes bad driving habits need to be corrected.

However I am wondering how much time is BEING spent on some of the little stuff; to get revenue; when our SOCIETY NEEDS POLICE WATCH IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES/AND OUR YOUTH.

... and here I am, just wishing the local police would deal with the small stuff. Czechs are statistically the worst drivers in Europe and there is nothing unusual about being tail-gated at 160 km/h, cross walks have an aesthetic value but not a practical one and traffic lights are a suggestion.

Effectively, the more valuable your car, the less likely you will ever receive a fine for violations.

Oh, I dream of the day they finally come up with a 20,000 Kc ($1000) fine for just being a dick.
