Where do young people hang out in this city? I'm in my early 20's, just trying to get over my crippling shyness / social anxiety, and make some friends! (And eventually, perhaps meet people of the opposite sex, but overcoming my social anxiety is the top priority.)
I went into the Starbucks at Woodgrove mall, looked around and everyone was a senior or at least middle-aged. Went into a nearby pub one evening recently, it was almost completely empty except for a few older folks and one young-ish girl. It's like this everywhere I go, and regardless of whether school is in or not. Does everyone in their 20's just **** off to Vancouver or Victoria whenever they get the chance or something?
Where can I meet friendly young ("under 30" is a good start...) people in a casual/relaxed environment and hang out maybe open up to people? By relaxed I mean I prefer not being surrounded by tons of loud energetic people who will think I'm a weirdo for just wanting to hang out and talk and not including "skydiving and 4x4ing" among my hobbies ... although at this point, I can't exactly be fussy about my options.
