I teach a freelancing course and I find freelancing works well in Nanaimo since there are so few highly paid jobs here. You can find freelance jobs online at places like oDesk.com and Freelancer.com.

Hi there, thanks for the response. I've been looking at both those sites a bit lately and I'm thinking I'm going to give it a shot. I've done work in and around the island but it seems like the market is slow right now. Do you have any experience with those types of sites? Are they really worthwhile?...thanks!
