Looking for information on the cost of living in the area.

What are the property taxes on average for a single residence House around 1200 sq ft.

What are the bills like for water, garbage pickup and any others I'm missing.

As long as you qualify for the homeowner grant, usually around $2000 for property taxes in Nanaimo and slightly less in the Regional District.

The other utilities I'm not sure about

can't guess what you need for utilities. There are so many variables, ask yourself what you need. but if i were to guess, count on electric and heat to be averaged at about $400 month for a 1200 sq ft rental house. meaning a rental may not be as efficient as your own home might be... see... yet another variable.
