I think a section about Nanaimo and what is happening in the city is a good section to have. There is alot of development and things happening these days in Nanaimo. When I moved to Nanaimo as a kid in 1977 the population was 41,000 so in 30 years it has doubled there is alot of activity and new development happening so I suggest having a section devoted to this new development that is happening!

There is the Vancouver island convention center or New Nanaimo center

Then there is the development next to the Pacifica building done by insight developments.[IMG][/IMG] All these projects are to be completed between 2006 and 2007

I also see construction in the northend of Nanaimo behind Pioneer park does anyone know what is going in there?

There's also the new ice arena that's going up by the aquatic centre. It will replace the Civic that being torn down to make room for the new convension centre.

Yes the new twin ice rinks on third street across from the Aquatic center will start soon. The actual convention center is going on Gordon street and Commercial next too the Library and Port Theatre.
I believe the old civic arena and foundry will be torn down to add to the park space as well as a parking lot for the park.
Where the excisting parking lot is will be two new condo towers beside the bridge as the second part to the NNC development
