Anyway, you don't want people driving on your roads? Fine! But calling people terrorists for trespassing on your fun playground? That's just plain DUMB.
Lol, Yes i find it bad.. It aint a joke the one guy from cerrcomm commmunications put that sign up there. It costs them Alot. About 3+ million on top of the mountain of radio equipment + overhaul from vandals. And it probaly costs them 500ish for the gate to be fixed when someone rams it. They put a new gate up there last year and within 1 week some idiot used a torch and cut through it. Now someitmes there is security up at the gate he sits in his truck. I got out one time and talked to him he was saying he couldent believe how many people have caused damage up to the site. He said to me there is another site on a mountain behind wolf which is not decosmos. I think it is on the side of benson and he was saying that one got totaly toarched one night. We made up a joke and posted it to the tree with a bin laden picture and it had have you seen him. The security guy took it down and now i think there is another sign.

And its totaly disgusting on going up that road to see how many people dump. take any side trail and its filled up with garbage. Its sick. the road to the left where the gate is has a truck motor sitting on the side. and a whole bunch of tires. Glad to say is there is police enforcement out now I have seen them a few times. Police now have say on those roads as the highway act has been changed.

Oh and I do take down licence plates of people dumping. It gets on my nerves we 4x4er's get a bad name for what happens. Like some kids are too cheep to go to the dump which is usally just 2 bucks to drop off I think 1 ton of garbage so they go up nanaimo lakes road and dump there garbage.. Like are you too cheep? Obsaly it cost you more then 2 buycks in fuel to get there. Stupid people.

Consider the source and look at it as a source of amusement. Provoked a reaction didn't it but will that stop you from going there again? I doubt it. So the sign didn't work and provided you some proof of the subspecies who exist somewhere in the region of Mt. Benson.

Haha i was there today someone crossed out terriost and put Sasquatch...

I wouldent doubt it they will fix it again! They probaly got some in the one guy who sits at the gate allday with his security truck.

Funny thing is one of my friends said on the cb that old guy wont see us.. He then said OH YEA? I SEE YOU RIGHT NOW.. Lol he listens to the cb radios and stuff. Funny guy to talk to though. We caught up again and talked about people who are dumping and if we see someone just write down the plate and they will get a fine in the mail aparently.

Are you guys familiar with any [un]organised trips up Mt. Benson? My friend and I are interested in seeing it for ourselves (besides, after having grown up in its shadow, we're a little curious as to whether the world doesn't really end on the other side of it). We'd rather play it safe and go with other people who are experienced hiking those trails.

Yes that's right, this is possibly the TENTH time we'll have tried to organize an outing, ladies and gentlemen.
    ....

Yeah so, I'm free Saturdays and Sundays, but not this coming.

For me I get annoyed with people, "driving in nature".

Occasionally I'll be having a romantic experience climbing Mount Benson, probably peeing on a tree and then someone drives by in the annoying as hell "QuAAD" and completely ruins the solitude and amazing experience.

I can see how roads and industry have destroyed the citylife but why do the innocent pagan forests need to experience this? I hate that hikers wishing to escape into the wilderness and beauty have to deal with a pompous asshole driving up their isolated location. Furthermore, everything, "accessible" in the world annoys me further, you guys can walk up Mount Benson, that's the point of it being an adventure, not using your goddamn polluting vehicle to get up there in 10 minutes. That completely ruins the point of it.

Oh well. I think I'm one of the few around here who actually views nature as an idealized state.. and I rarely see anyone when I climb Mount Benson, it's usually just someone driving a quad near the powerlines.

I feel like I'm the only one interested in this stuff around here tbh, everyone my age seems to enjoy going clubbing and getting drunk in their hot new mazdas.. Jeez.

You made that comment on a two year old thread, I think you went a little beyond where you should have... Those using quads are not all "pompous a$$h0le$" If there is a trail, quads will use it, and it will never go away... If you don't want to see one, walk where there are no trails.... Better yet please do not post comments like this on this board, these are the types of comments that make me avoid such boards...

Most of the trails up Mt. Benson are used by a variety of people. Smile and nod or say hello whenever you pass anybody. It is there for all of us to use. Respect the land and each other if you are hiking, cycling or riding a quad, enjoy yourself

Every category has it's jerks but to put everybody in the same category isn't fair.
