Gina's Restaurant, Nanaimo
47 Skinner Street, Nanaimo, BC
Ph: (250) 753-5411
Never been to Gina's? Expect an affordable Mexican dining experience in a cozy old character home overlooking a paved but panoramic section of downtown Nanaimo.
The menu includes a good range of items, unlike many other Canadian-Mexican restaurants with their hundred different combinations of the same four items. Mmm, get the shrimp flautas - they're yummy. Kahlua cheesecakes, molé sauce, and free, yummy chips'n'salsa are good, too. Vegetarians might appreciate the tofu quesadillas, and the many veggie combo options.
Gina's is a favourite both locally and for people who return here regularly from the mainland and the rest of the island. It's been around for twenty years with the same owners and a lot of the same staff, and this is reflected in the regular base of customers who love the consistent menu.
You can find Gina's Restaurant just south of Swy-a-lana Lagoon on Skinner Street; it's behind Front Street and the courthouses, overlooking the Island Highway south of Comox Rd (Bowen Rd South).
