With Nanaimo's lofty hilltops and extensive waterfront, there are lots of luxury properties available. And choices abound, too, whether you're looking for a remote acreage with a massive log home and a majestic mountain view, or something closer to the water and the amenities of the city.

Luxury home sales have been strong in BC in recent years, partly because the economic problems of 2008-2010 didn't affect affluent buyers as much as the middle class.

Moreover, a lot of foreign buyers are buying luxury properties in Nanaimo and the rest of the island. Most investment seems to be coming from Southeast Asia, Western Europe, and the United States.
