This is one of Nanaimo's original residential neighbourhoods. It was part of the "South Ward" in Victorian times, and now showcases many fine examples of period architecture.
Nob Hill is a great place for young professionals to get into the market. The homes themselves are valuable and built with solid materials, so that moderate cosmetic renovations can make for a very attractive flip or a cozy home for life. And with the proximity to downtown and the many ocean views, "location" doesn't get much better than the Nob Hill area.
The area has had its ups and downs, with crime and visible poverty still casting a bit of a shadow. There are tons of families here who have never had a cause for complaint, and yet people with children should be warned that there are safer neighbourhoods in town, though few as neighbourly.
Along bus routes? Definitely.
