The Pleasant Valley area is in north Nanaimo, roughly between Mostar Road and Woodgrove Mall (see the interactive map below). It features some older properties with large lots, especially around Metral Drive and the old E&N railway - but there are also a lot of new homes being built on smaller lots that were subdivided from the original parcels. You can also find townhomes both new and old, and some of the most sought-after manufactured home parks in the city.
Brannen Lake is here (power boats allowed), enjoyed by residents of the Lakeside Estates neighbourhood (1996-2008 builds, most with garages) on the lake's eastern side near the Black Bear Pub. There is a public boat ramp and dock at the end of Dunster Road.
